Night Over Erzinga is a generational story of an Armenian family, spanning nearly 100 years and three continents. The family's story begins during the Armenian genocide and follows the women of the family to the present. It is the story of uncovering family history, creating new personal identity, and reclaiming heritage.
The costume design was the main signifier of time and location. Iconic fashions brought us from an Armenian family gathering in 1914 to a Las Vegas rehearsal in the 1960s to today. I used the texture, color, and silhouette of costumes to help illustrate the throughlines within the multi-generational story.
